I believe the best way to prepare students for the future is to give use current technology as well as “old styles” of learning information. If students are only taught how to use computers and other current technology, but fail to still learn how to write with a pencil, look up words in a dictionary, etc., they will be handicapped as far as being able to problem solve and find out information on their own. I think having a happy-medium between “old-fashioned” learning and “new learning” is a good way to go. Also, I think it is very important to teach things to students that are relevant to their own lives, and that also deal with current events or circumstances happening in our world. If a teacher doesn’t make learning meaningful for their students, then those students might not be as excited about continuing their education or wanting to pursue advanced degrees.

The best thing I feel works best. Is allowing kids to actually get hands on. They seem to do well when put them into the fire idea. They will be scared when you do that, but they will learn it faster. So that means from the classroom to the work world. Making kids do math in front of the class, or just using both old concepts of the dry erase board. Or using technology to help. The other good thing to do is tell them, what you as a person have not done so well, and have done great. So they understand.

I think the best way to produce great learners is by examples. As we demonstrate our desires to learn new concepts and technologies, we will be indirectly influencing our students.

I think a great way to lead young learners and future leaders is to start educating problem solving and critical thinking skills at a very young age. Along with this, we should also start teaching leadership characteristics to them as soon as possible. Sometimes in life, character outweighs smarts and intangibles carry over much farther than a science lesson could potentially teach. I think these types of leadership characteristics and teaching kids how to be nice people could help benefit them in and outside of the classroom.

I agree with what others have posted that we can get the best out of our young students by using current technology and giving them hands on. In addition to that I believe that we as educators need to make sure what we are teaching our students is relevant and rigorous. Students will be more successful if they can apply what they are being taught in the real world and the information we teach them is exact and precise.

I think that giving students every opportunity for success is important. I think that integrating technology into the curriculum will help prepare our students for the future. One of the ways that I feel helps my students is by having an authentic relationship with them so that we can have meaningful conversations about the future and what they want to get out of life. Guiding students through the goal making process is also very important.

I think that the best way to get kids learning is to have some sort of academic test where you can determine if a young student learns better through auditory, visual, or hands on. Once you determine what kind of medium is needed, you can then teach more effectively to those students by grouping them in certain classes to maximize learning.

How do we get the best out of our young students? That is a tough question. I think the answer is and individual effort. You have to take the time as a teacher to get to know each students and what drives them. You must take an interest in all that they do and challenge them on an individual basis. "I know you can do this!" or "I expect great things from you!" are some phrases that allow me to motivate some students. You can't do this for every student, there are just too many but that is why some of us were inspired by some teachers and disliked others. Did they take an interest in you and your strengths when you were in school. I know my best work always came when I knew they expected greatness from me.

I think the best way to get our kids these days to learn is by using technology and keeping learning fun! These days the kids don't want to just sit there and not do anything with the teacher writing on the bored and taking notes. Kids these days almost need to be entertained in the classroom, by playing fun learning games or using fun technology for learning.

I am with a lot of the people here and believe that the best way to prepare our young people is to give them a well rounded foundation in education. I agree with Julie that the basics need to be taught and focused on.

The best way to help mold our young students is to get them hands on. Give them fun and interactive ways to learn the information that they need to retain. This way they will have a fun activity but also be learning along the way.

To better prepare our students for the working world I believe it requires a certain amount of disillusionment in the the technology they are being pressed upon to obtain as it is absent in teaching and cultivating many positive behaviors that are key in the learning process. One key behavior that comes immediately to mind and is absent through technology's use and is vital in the the working world is ethics. Yes it is true that through technology complex problems can be solved by those who might have struggled to do so before tech became a prominent part of our lives. But one must consider in route to obtaining the answer in the working world whether or not that answer achieved has ethical consideration in its application. Just as video games and TV desensitize our youth it is my contention that heavy reliance on technology can desensitize or denature learned behaviors as well and as a consequence dampen ethical thought in the working world.
