I have never been in an educator stance outside of coaching. However, I have experienced one of the websites multiple times and that is the Maker Faire. I normally go each year when the Faire is in Kansas City and honestly I have loved it every year. I think it is a great place to learn and a really interesting event. I highly recommend checking it out sometime to the rest of the class. The website gives information about the event and even some videos from it.

I have not used any of these in my classroom, but I know how much my own children LOVE Minecraft and SimCity! So Minecraft.print and http://glasslabgames.org/ would be fantastic ways to connect with kids! Kids of all ages enjoy it. It would be awesome to have the access to a 3D printer so they could print out the things they create in their Minecraft worlds. A version of SimCity that works with curriculum would be great as well. Both of the could be educational and allow the students to learn while to being creative and using their imaginations.

I used Howtoons, it seemed to be an interesting way to present information to students that is different from the norm. In my dealing with young children they seem to like comic books better because it connects visual learning along with the reading. Plus it breaks up the information into smaller more digestible pieces. Having a different way of introducing information is always a good thing.

HowToons looked very interesting to me. The ability to tell stories and facts in a cartoon format I think would intrigue students of all ages! I have done some story telling and fact-based projects with cartoon and I think it would be a great way to reach children of all ages, and the adults too. I liked it a lot and plan to use it somehow, someday when I can find some more time.
