Here is an article that I found about classrooms without technology. Students that graduate from such institutions have success in college, and in life. Can you please tell why you agree or disagree with this article?

Just like anything in the world. You can only learn the stuff that you've been exposed to. THese kids weren't exposed to technology in school and were able to adapt with LESS in my opinion. So, when they got the "extra benefit" of added help with techonology, once they picked up on how to work the technology then they used it for their benefit. I think it would be a lot harder going from having a lot of technology to now having to work with NO technology.

I really like this article. It shows that students can get just as much of a benefit from no technology as with. I also think it shows how you don't need to spend a bunch of the schools money that is taken from other areas to have technology. Students can adapt.

I definitely agree with Kennedy on this article. I really liked how it showed that kids can adjust and adapt to technology and learn in different ways. Too much emphasis is put on technology these days and it is becoming somewhat of a burden. Good article!

I agree that plenty of education can be done without the use of some technology. There are many ways to write present a topic which is most of what education is. You can talk about it, hand write, type, research books, research on internet. All of these are ways to learn. Some use more technology, but in the end it is about understanding topics. Now if we are trying to prepare students to be able to type for company in the future they will need typing skills. So although technology is not needed to learn, it is needed to learn about technology. Hopefully that makes sense to you all.

I found this article very intriguing. I think it is awesome that these students proved that you dont need a bunch of technology in order for an education. I also think it goes to show how one can learn without it, then when they are exposed to it they make the most out of it. I agree with carl when he says it is easier to learn without it than learn how to use it in the future rather than to learn with it then try and not use it.

I think this article sheds light on how you can be successful without technology. There has been so many Doctors Lawyers ect who have been extremely successful in their profession without the current use of technology that others in their profession have been exposed to.Now I think our job as educators is to help bring our students up to date with the technology that's available to us and teach them how to use and adjust to the every changing flow of technology in the classroom.

This reminded me of a previous article posted about students that don't use technology. I think it's great that the students are completely content and okay with the lack of technology. But like Gino said, we as instructors have a duty to bring the students into the technology world and teach them what we possibly can to prepare them for the present generation of technology.

Some people believe technology is a bad thing and that it can interrupt social or one on one learning. I believe that technology is a part of today's world and we should teach students how to utilize it but not how to depend on it.

I like the thought of being brought up in a non-technological school. Students in this type of school learn for themselves without the help of technology, and can therefore thrive when they are required to do something without technology. Then once they get to a college, they can learn all about technology and how to use it. Basically, they can first learn for themselves, and then learn with aids. Students who use technology early can definitely use this as a crutch. For example, a student might be required to show the class how to do something. He could easily get on the internet and look up how to do whatever it is he is demonstrating, and then present. However, you take away the internet from him and he wouldn't know what to do. Id rather have a student who could think for themselves and not use technology vs a student who can use technology but cannot think for themselves.

I have to agree that technology alone does not make successful people. Technology does make some aspects of life easier. However, I also believe having things come easier just enables people to pursue in more leisure activities or time wasting. How many hours a week to people spend watching tv or playing facebook games. I believe schools that do not have this technological advancement turn out students who understand how to do things without shortcuts or easy ways. Since they have an understanding of those things they can catch on to technology quickly as they are well rounded individuals who are very intelligent. They do not have to rely on technology to get through a day in their life. How many people have you met that can not compute simple change? 50 years ago this was not nearly the problem it is today.

There are a lot of instances that using technology can be more complicated than not. There are a lot of controversy in golf whether or not teachers should use video and programs to help. A lot of times this makes things too technical and puts too many thoughts in their head. The same can go for real life too, keeping it simple is sometimes the best thing to do

I dont think you have to use the technology to teach the students but you need to find ways to keep them interested and focused on what your trying to teach. Teachers can pick things up online then bring them to the classroom to teach the kids.

I think that if your not exposed to the internet or technology it could hurt you because you don't know what you are doing.
