As we all know there are two different areas of the computer world that we mainly have to deal with. These are Mac's and PC's. There are multiple pros and cons to both but we find that schools have a variety of different options of both types and some even combine both. In your opinion, which one is better Mac or PC? Which one should our students be learning on? Should we be teaching them how to use both? The article below compares Mac vs. PC

I personally prefer PC. I don't think it means it's better. I don't have the knowledge to determine which one is "better." I believe students should be learning on both. The reason why I prefer PC is because I am more used to it. I have friends who love Macs and won't use anything else. It is important for students to learn as many forms of technology as possible.

I also prefer a PC but it is just from lack of experience with a Mac. I have not often used a Mac. I think it would be great if students could be exposed to both.

I would have to say, too, that I prefer a PC but that is because I am most familiar with it. I have known people that would not have anything but a Mac though. I think PC's are more the common means because the majority of technology in schools is PC based and that is what students are most familiar with so that is what they choose as they get older in regard to their choice of PC or Mac. I think that if both were used equally in the classrooms then there would be more acceptance and use of Mac's.

I have always had a PC. In college, I felt like all the journalism majors and art majors had PCs because it had features that pertained to their study. I think the students could learn on either one. One they get older, they can chose. In our school we just have PCs. If we had Macs, I would have some learning to do.

I personally have also always used PC. I don't automatically think PC is the better choice it's just what I"m used to and have the most experience with. It's funny because I have so many apple products. iPhone, ipad, ipod but I use them all with PC. I know people that have MACs and love them and I think someday I will want to try one out. Students I think can learn either one and be totally ok having to switch to the other. Kids can adapt to technology changes quicker than adults can.

Like the others who've already posted, I too prefer a PC. In high school I used an Apple IIe (I know; I'm dating myself!), and in college I used a Mac a little with a job I had. That's about the extent of my Apple computer usage. Everything else I've learned to do has been on a PC, so that's why it is my preference. I'm not sure Apple will ever be able to outdo PC's in the market simply because there is just more available to users on the PC market (software, operating systems, and etc.). However, I think Apple has really developed a separate niche for itself in the gesture-based/mobile device market (iPhone, iPad). These seem to be much more popular than PCs and I think are really the future of computer usage. As a result, I think that in the future, we'll rely less and less on traditional PCs and more and more on mobile devices and Apple certainly has an advantage there!

I am 100% Mac.Once one owns an apple product, it is hard to go back to anything else. Mac technology is far more advanced than the PC, and it offers innovative technology draws in the user. I work on a PC at work, and it feels as if I am in the "stone age". The processor, memory and user friendliness of the Mac makes it the ultimate choice for computer users. Also the compatibility offered from the Mac allows other apple products to sync seamlessly. Microsoft and other PC makers are constantly trying to change their technology to meet the high standards apple has set, but nothing in my opinion has come close to the Mac.

Interesting perspective. I'm both a PC and a Mac user...I love the Mac products and have both an iPad and iPhone, but primary cell in Android. Most recent data shows that more devices (computing equipment) will have Android loaded than combining all other OS devices, including Apple and PC's Windows...Android is beating them all in market sales as primary Operating Systems.

PC. Not because one is better than the other, but because once you go with apple, you tend to go down the slippery slope of being able to only use other apple products. We (my wife and I) own ipods and iphones but do not want an Ipad because we do not want the hassle of having apple applications in a pc world. We made a similar decision when we recently purchased a Roku instead of AppleTv. Apple may be innovative, but PC always winds up getting the bigger market share in the end. We live in a PC world and that's just teh way it is.

I have used a PC my whole life. But a few weeks ago I purchased my first Iphone and I am addicted. I haven't had much experience with Mac computers but what little I have had I feel like it takes me much longer to do things because of my lack of knowledge about them. I think that we should teach our students about both.

I prefer a PC. It is what I grew up with, and still use today. Like most everyone in the class, I don't have much experience with Mac's. However, I have used them quite a bit. I feel that students should learn on PC because they are more commonly used, and are compatible with each other. I have had problems in the past where someone used a program on a Mac computer, and the file was unreadable on my PC.

I am a huge Mac user, I haven't used a PC in years. I've had a PC laptop and a MacBook while in college and my PC crashed about three times. Now my PC is used as a paperweight. I think that more classes are going to start updating to Apple products instead of PCs. Microsoft Office programs are constantly updating their product for Mac users. I just prefer Mac because I feel like it's more up-to-date than PCs.

I prefer PC because it is better on a world wide scale. Apple’s products are not targeted at the mainstream user, but rather at the 15-20% of earlier adopters (that is why they cost so much). Price is a big issue for me, especially when it comes to versatility per dollar.

I do not really look into this, on which is the better option. So I really don't know which is actually better. But I feel that a school should probably just decide on which computer that should use collectively. It would make doing upgrades easier and most of the times you need to fix something, they would be the same.
