While growing up in the Los Angeles School I had a hard time learning the traditional ways that teachers taught and it seemed that if students couldn't learn the way that the teachers were teaching, they would be left out. I believe that the way technology is being used in schools today , students will be presented to different ways of learning instead of one-way fits all. This video that I found on YouTube goes us 10 reasons to why we should use technology in schools. Pick one and tell us how you think it would have benefited you if you were still in high school.

I think using technology engages all students in different ways. Our world is changing into a high tech world and students will need to know about technology in order to survive. Students love technology they use it constantly at home so why not bring it into the classroom and capture their attention. Teaching lessons with technology makes class interesting. It is a big change from just looking at the textbook. I believe the use of technology in the classroom really helps students learn at their best.

Students love technology and any way they can learn using technology. I definitely think that the teachers should teach the way that students best learn. It's hard though when a teacher doesn't have the technology that they should to teach for the future.

I would think that having the teacher with more free time would have helped the most when I was in high school. I went to a really big high school (4700 students) and the class size averaged 45 so the teacher spent most of the time just trying to keep things manageable. I do find it funny that the video offered no real research for the 10 reasons. There is no long term research that shows any of these ideas will have a long term effect on overall learning. The funniest part was it was produced by a company trying to sell the very equipment it said could improve learning. Nice!

Technology is extremely important in todays classroom. Students tend to become more involved when technology comes into play. I think that utilizing technology in the classroom allows the instructor to provide the extra attention that some students may be needing. I also feel that technology is allowing students who are struggling communicate better with their instructors. Prime example are the classroom webpages. These are excellent ways for students and parents to have easier access to the teacher for help.

We didn't use a lot of technology in my school, but when we did, everyone loved it and seemed to pay attention a lot more. I think the fact that students are excited about doing something other than look at a PowerPoint and watch a video will make them want to pay attention more and by doing that, they will learn more information. Technology also allows students to be more hands on about their education through games and other programs on the computer or on iPads.

I think it's amazing how the students focus and pay attention more when they are in control of the technology. With this being said, I really wish I had Ipads for all my students that is tied into the SmartBoard for instruction time.

They rarely used 'new' technology at my high school mainly because of cost but also because they're somewhat stuck in their old ways. However, I was always excited for the technology we did use. I think its fair to say that most students love using technology. It's new, fresh and just something different to get their interest. It captures their attention and peaks their curiosity while also helping them learn. I think I would have been way more interested in most of my subjects in high school if we had more technology to utilize instead of continuously writing on a board.

Sometimes when a student is not doing well in a class it can be blamed on the fact that they are bored or distracted. Integrating technology into the curriculum can help students with low attention spans. Students with ADD or ADHD often times zone out when listening to a teacher lecture for almost an hour. Technology offers interactive and engaging activities that will better keep children's attention. When students are more engaged, more learning is a result. Bringing technology into instruction helps every single student.

Students love using technology. Many of the students I had in my student teaching knew no other way to do work than with an Ipad or MAC computer. I feel that technology also caters to all learning styles. The more and more students use this technology the better prepared they'll be for working in the real world.

I personally enjoyed all 10. I will say that the use of technology does prepare students for what they are about to experience. I would advise anyone that could if you are ever in the California area to go by the Google Head Quarters and you will be blown away by how its set up with all of the creative things. They surround themselves and their entire staff with creative inventions and technology that is an creative energy filled workplace. Just like Google, by teachers using technology in school, they will allow students to be able to keep up with the world as they entire different levels of life using technology.

I liked all 10 but If I were still in high school I feel number 5 would have been beneficial. Since students enjoy using technology on their own at home, it stands to reason if they are allowed to use it in school it will help to increase their learning and lead to better test scores. I did well in school, but if I had been able to use the technology that students get to use today I feel I would have benefited from it. Anytime you can engage students and excite them about their learning, they will take an interest in their school work and in the long run their academic success will improve. Also, using technology in the classroom will help prepare students for life in the workforce when they graduate. Times are changing and we need to keep up with the new technologies which will help our students to be successful in and out of school.

I think the first reason was good because that plays to the reasoning that giving students new technology that they will be more engaged in class. This will also allow for students to use technology that they are more a custom to using.

I believe technology opens up so many doors for education. It allows educators to teach in new and innovative ways and for students to learn how they want to. Technology engages students more than a teacher standing in front of the classroom. Allowing children to use technology in the classroom is very beneficial.

Kids are engaged in different ways when it comes to technology. They seem to like it more than the traditional way of teaching and learning. Technology will be able to keep the students interested in what they are suppose to be learning. I can tell that all of my students tend to get a little bored with taking notes off of the board but when I start to pull stuff off of the internet to show them they get more interested.
