We have learned a lot about technology whether its using technology or things like Digital Footprints. These things are all useful in the fields that we will be continuing our career in. From what we have learned in the class what are the technologies that you would find most useful and what would you find not so useful in your career.

I find that most useful would be a microphone recorder where you can record verbally test questions through a computer so students that are on IEP's can listen to them while they take their test at their own speed.

For me the most useful would be the I-pads, and videos. This would be for visual purposes. As a medical profession it is best to learn with hands on and visual aspects. Students can study all they want out of a book but seeing it visually and being able to use anatomy apps that allow you to see layers of the body is the most beneficial without opening up a cadaver which is expensive and difficult to have as a class.

I have mentioned many times prior my fascination with Smart Boards. Teaching in the younger levels of elementary, I have found the use of Smart Boards to be a great attribute the classroom. At this young age these students want to learn by being involved and doing things hands-on. By using the Smart Board, the students are able to interact on a large-scale version. If it is a lesson being taught, I can pull it up on the Smart Board and they can see it being done along with them rather than just the standard lecture or listening to what to circle or write. The Smart Board allows them to play games that correlate with the lesson and so they are able to learn by interacting and doing in hands-on.

With coaching, I have found that video (Right View Pro), and having that same technology on my iPad and iPhone make life a lot easier when on the road or need a quick, portable way to video a player or break down their swing. This makes a much needed visual reference for them.

So far everything we have discussed has been pretty familiar to me. However, the idea of making a website for my own class really has its positives. In my classes I wont have a bevy of homework, but I would like them to do things outside of my class that relates back to what we have talked about in school. I could easily post videos or articles on my website that students would be required to watch or read and then we would discuss that information in class. Also, parents could easily see what we are doing in class, and wouldn't have to call in to see what their students are supposed to be doing. I would have an updated page for parents to see exactly what their student should be doing to prepare for class, as well as maybe some pages for parents to read to help teach their child if they have questions at home.

I believe I would agree anything that uses phone technology would not be pertinent to my current job because I am not allowed to have a phone in the facility as it is max security. In the future I know I would have to embrace the phone technology more as my younger children are able to navigate the phone easier than myself. What I like are the technologies such as google documents that make using technology easier. I also like the idea of getting additional information from technology to engage children more fully to get them on the path of loving to learn.

I don't know if there is one thing that i think is my favorite. There are many study tools out there that are great for teaching science courses. When it comes to labs, i think the smart board would be awesome. You could get a diagram of whatever it is you are doing and actually go through the lab without doing it step by step for the students. And the least useful technology I can think of is actually something like we are using in this class. I think it is helpful for certain situations like having an online class and not having any other way to converse with each other. But for the science courses i will be teaching, a forum would be very ineffective.

I think learning about creating of a website is going to be one of the best things I have gained from this class. In my career field it is very difficult to set yourself apart from others. Being a source of information is one of them. Through the use of the websites I can create that and better display my knowledge and help get my name out there.

With my profession as coaching I would see the most useful would be video. Being able to film athletes so they can go back and watch themselves is very important. It is also very helpful so that coaches and athletes are on the same page. The least helpful would have to be a smart board, I never see myself using one for coaching.

For teaching purposes you need to find good software that’s user friendly and reliable. Hardware is going to change every year but the programs will pretty much remain the same. If you can find something that works stick with it and don’t worry about upgrading until you need it.

I think we have learned a ton about technology and the different uses of technology. I would have to agree with Carl I think some type of recording is absolutely necessary in our educational system. Having taught school I know that a lot of students and parents would benefit from video feedback. It would allow teachers to teach freely and it would allow parents to know how to help educate their children.

Being an instructor and being in the medical field I believe I can find use for just about any technology. I see advances being made everyday in the healthcare field and I must stay on top of these so I can teach my students about them. I believe any technology can be a benefit if used correctly in the classroom.

I think incorporating a WebQuest to vary how information is presented in an online course, or even an on-ground course, is one of the most helpful things I've learned this semester. Also, I think using Twitter to develop a PLN is something useful I could require my students to do.

I think the least useful item for me would be phones. In the Physical Education field, there arent many uses for cell phones in class. I do believe that the most useful would be smart boards, and the webquest that we made earlier on in the semester.
